Get Ready for the DC Design House!

Greetings y'all! If you had told me that less than ONE MONTH ago I would be putting the finishing touches on yet another fabulous Virtual Golf Room in a decorator showhouse I would have thought you were out of your cotton picking mind, but when the brass ring is dangling smart gals like me GRAB IT!

The DC Design House is a wonderful project benefitting Children's National Medical Center here in Washington DC, and when they asked me many months ago to create a Virtual Golf Room for the house I was all for it. After all, I created an entire new demographic of MEN who eagerly bought tickets to the CharityWorks GreenHouse last fall as opposed to being dragged by their wives kicking and screaming! Alas, upon walking through the beautiful property in Chevy Chase, MD there was really no ideal space that I could use to showcase the HD Golf Simulator. Either the room was too small, or the ceilings were too low, well, you get the drill. However, after walking outside with my pals Taylor Wells and Dennis McClellan I spied with my little blue eyes this HUGE three car garage in a seperate building behind the house. It would have been perfect, well, except for the little pesky details such as the fact that it was in a state of total disrepair, had a leaky roof, was mildewed and also the home of about a thousand spiders and other crawly things. Yuk! Jokingly I told Taylor and Dennis that if they could magically have the space transformed into a clean, insulated space, get rid of the garage door mechanisms, remove a window to create a door, yada yada yada I could give them one HECK of a golf room. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would get a call from Taylor less than a MONTH ago to let me know that they had found a contractor who was willing to donate time and materials to make the golf room a reality.

Seriously? Less than ONE MONTH to do six months worth of planning, product selection and implementation?

Yep. And you know me...nothing like a challenge to get the old brain working!

So, here we are, on the eve of press day. Chandler and Dan from Foxcraft (our wonderful contractors and partners for the project) did an amazing job of transforming the space in a super short period of time, Elliott Landscape Group created a Virtual Golf Masters Putting Garden as the lead in to our space, my super sweet pals Annie and Joanna from Edward Ferrell/Lewis Mittman from the Washington Design Center provided all of the gorgeous furnishings from their showroom because there was no way in H-E-double hockey sticks I would have been able to special order anything in this short time frame, and lo and behold we have one of the most DYNAMITE spaces you'll ever see. I keep telling my friends on Facebook not to wear any socks to the showhouse because our Virtual Golf Room and Garden will certainly KNOCK THEM OFF! Hee hee!

I promise now that I have my wits about me and the hard part is over I'll be keeping you updated on all of the progress and the finished pictures of the Virtual Golf Room. If you're in the DC Metro Area you'll want to be sure to come out and visit the house. It opens to the public on April 10th and ends May 9th so you've got PUH-lenty of time to make your plans. Group rates are available as well. Go to www.DCDesignHouse.com for more information about the house and the other designers as well as Children's National Medical Center our VERY worthy charity we're raising funds for.

Until then, this Exhausted Golf Girl is saying TTFN, but I'll be sure to catch you on the links!

xo,

Lynni
