Greetings Golf Lovers!
A lot has changed since last Fall when I created the Virtual Golf Room for the Charity Works Green House...then I was just another interior designer with a crazy idea for a Showhouse, and now fast forward to the present and I am the head designer and the "brand" for Virtual Golf Girl, LLC, a new company that has been formed to create Luxury Virtual Golf Rooms for private residences and corporate offices across the country. We are thrilled to be officially partnering with High Definition Golf, the same company that joined forces with me for the Green House, whose corporate team are now among my closest friends. Gosh, I can't tell you how my life has changed overnight with the formation of this great new company, and boy have I had a TON of fun in the past couple of months while we're getting VGG off the ground.
Those of you who follow me on Facebook have already had a glimpse or two of some of my adventures of the past two months starting with the Sundance Festival in Park City, Utah. To use one of my daughter's favorite acronyms, all I can say is OMG!!!! Talk about fun! Launching VGG at Sundance was nothing short of amazing...five days of fun in a gorgeous, glittery Winter Wonderland chock full of celebrities, producers, directors, and little peeps like me who were nothing short of starstruck the entire time!
People ask me all the time: How in the world did you get to be a sponsor of Sundance? That falls into the "right place right time" category as I was lucky enough to get introduced to a group called the Creative Coalition, a non-profit organization that promotes the arts in schools across the country. Through this introduction I got an invitation to become a sponsor for the Creative Coalition Spotlight Dinner featuring Sting as the guest of honor. In addition to having our awesome new logo all over the signage for the party, we also got a booth at the Alive Green Pavilion gifting suites where we schmoozed with celebs for three days promoting Virtual Golf Girl! Our KICKGRASS T-shirts were the talk of Sundance...we actually had people trying to get into the suite just to grab one of our signature shirts with the KICKGRASS tag line across the, ahem, "back" of the shirt. Heck, just check out the pictures above and you'll get the drift! It was so much fun...I got to meet celebs from every possible genre. From the gang from High School Musical (especially the adorable Kaycee Stroh) to Adrian Grenier from Entourage the stars were out in droves. A perfect example of "Sundance Cool" was probably a luncheon I went to where the eternally cute Tim Daly, president of the Creative Coalition, hosted the event wearing his ski pants, goggles and boots because he had just jumped off of the Main Street lift in time to make his opening remarks! Sundance is totally that laid back. You can amble up to a bar to grab a beer and you never know who that person in a parka is next to you because it's so unpretentious and "non" Hollywood.
Speaking of being at the right place at the right time, I ended up running into some new Sundance Friends one night and before you knew it I had been rushed into the famed bar Harry O's with the owner and her own entourage where we found ourselves in the VIP Section at the Joan Jett event celebrating her biopic The Runaways. Joan Jett was busting it OUT on stage with the Blackhearts, singing all of the songs we all love: I Hate Myself for Loving You rocked the roof off, and the couple of thousand people inside obviously agreed because the crowd went wild. Fifteen minutes after the show ended once again we were hustled through the throngs of people, down two secret stairwells well guarded by guys you wouldn't want to mess with, and lo and behold there we were in the Green Room where Joan Jett and her band were hanging out with none other than Kristin Stewart of Twilight who is playing the lead role of the Joan Jett biopic. Talk about a surreal moment...here was the gal who is featured prominently in a poster in my 12 year old daughter's room with her vampire beau right before my eyes. All 98 pounds of her. I told her that my daughter was a big fan, and ended up with a picture of the two of us and a "Runaways" T-shirt from the movie that she asked me to give to my little girl. That's what Sundance is...an amazing opportunity to be up close and personal with these stars who are really just people doing their jobs but in a much more public way than we can ever dream of.
Virtual Golf Girl totally rocked it out during our entire trip to Sundance...and we are actually heading out to LA the week of March 8th to meet with LOTS of new friends who are totally digging the idea of having their own 19th hole in their homes and offices! I was talking with a BIG producer while I was in Park City about the idea that most deals are done on the golf course...why not bring the golf course to your meetings? The fact that our simulator is in High Definition is music to the ears of my new friends in the movie industry because that way it also doubles as a theatre room. Picture having your clients visit you for a big presentation, loosening them up with a few holes on Pebble Beach or any of our other courses, then with the push of a button showing the newest film release or a Power Point presentation all in glorious HD. You don't have to be a movie producer or an actor to appreciate how amazing that would be, no matter what business you're in! I love it!
Now that our GORGEOUS new website is up and running at you can click on my blog button at any time to see what we're up to, so this gal is going to be doing a lot of writing from now on. It's fun to get back into the groove after so many posts about the Green House, but this is a whole new ball game now and you'll definitely want to be a part of the fun! Also, be sure to join our Virtual Golf Girl fan page on Facebook for more pictures, videos and lots of good stuff about what we're up to!
My next post? I'll fill you in on how cool it was to hang out with Jerry Rice at the Super Bowl! Until then, be sure to stay tuned and we'll see you in LA!
xoxo,
Lynni
