The Countdown is ON! (and so is the Pressure...)

Quick! Run to your computer and type the word CRAZY in the search box. LOOK: There's my picture with a definition next to it:

Design Gal on the Go who is losing her mind trying to pull together her Virtual Golf Room without pulling all of her hair out in the process!

Yes folks, I've never ever claimed to be calm, cool and collected (well, I digress...maybe cool) but these days it's a miracle I am not locked up in a loony bin with visions of simulators dancing through my head. You wanna walk in my stilettos? Here's a look at next week:

Okay, first of all, there was the "PhotoViolet" carpet caper. My friends at Feizy Rugs created this GORGEOUS deep bourdeaux wool carpet for the room, and of course I'm thinking, EASY, just install the carpet and put the simulator in after. But NOOOOOOO, it's not that easy. Seems that the carpet is not PhotoViolet, meaning that the lasers will not read the ball when it's hit into the screen. So, now I have to inlay the carpet with some "faux grass" carpet in my putting zone, to the EXACT SPECIFICATIONS of the screen, which is not here.

Then I find out that the carpet needs to be laid at the SAME TIME the simulator is installed, because the carpet has to TOUCH the screen for putting mode. So, no doing things in advance. All must be done on the same day. Easy, right....?

Well, I get a call today that the simulator is arriving next week and being installed next week, but I haven't quite gotten around to appliquing the exotic wood tree silhouettes to the walls which must be done before the carpet which must be done at the same time as the simulator and WHEW!!! I am quickly losing my mind over how in the world I am going to pull all of this off in three days. Anybody wanna come and help me cut out 18 wood veneer tree silhouettes, hand rub them with beeswax and apply them to the walls all before the simulator goes in? Raise your hand because I'm definitely drowning here!

The good news is that no matter how much stress you're under, everything eventually gets done. What is making me sooooooo very happy today is the fact that I got my Washington SPACES magazine in the mail today, and lo and behold there is our precious CharityWorks Green House right there on the front cover! Isn't it Bee-YOO-TEE-ful? I am so excited, and even more excited to give y'all the VERY FIRST GLIMPSE of what you'll see when our doors open in October. Check out the link to get your scoop first hand...the issue isn't even on the news stands yet so definitely give it a look.

Check out www.washingtonspaces.com for the entire article! It's amazing!

In the meantime, I'm gonna keep working my mojo, and wait to hear from Matt Lauer and the producers at The Today Show...I just sent them a ton of info on The Green House so keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll also keep you posted on a HUGE General Motors press conference that's happening at the Green House on September 22nd...Get ready to see our name in LIGHTS at this huge event. As usual, I'll keep you in the know, so stay tuned and please spread the word about the Green House! It is one Rocking Project that will help us ALL help our lovely little earth.

Lynni

My Top Ten Reasons to Play Virtual Golf

Hi everyone!

It's me, Slacker Girl! Yes, it was brought to my attention that I haven't posted anything in a while, but gosh, it's SUMMER and here in the DC Area we're enjoying some of the best weather we've had in years! In the last month or two I've been travelling like crazy promoting my book in Dallas and Atlanta, and then I took Mini Lynni off for a few days in Chincoteague for some Mommie and me time. Sorry I've been neglecting my precious blog, but really I'm more excited than ever about the progress of the Green House! It's going to be here before you know it, so without further ado (and a distinct nod to David Letterman) here are my Top 10 reasons why Virtual Golf is GREAT!!!

10. For EVERY golfer, it takes 2200-3500 gallons of water to support his game each and every time he plays a real golf course. With Virtual Golf we're saving BILLIONS of gallons of water each and every day!

9. There's no use of pesticides in your basement! Ease your conscience knowing that the Greens on the Screen will stay that way, and no toxins that pollute our environment are used in Virtual Golf!

8. Keep your Lear jet in the hangar! Why burn pesky fossil fuels flying to Banff or Pebble Beach when you can play those same courses from the luxury of your own home!

7. Go Postal! Rain, Snow, Sleet, Hail? No problem! With HD Virtual Golf you can play 365 days a year whether the weather cooperates or not! Tell THAT to the folks in Minnesota, eh?

6. Not a vampire? Excellent! Whether it's Morning, Noon or Night you don't have to wait for a full moon to play a round of Night Golf with your pals.

5. You won't have "hat head" or be covered in sweat after you've played a round! Plus no need for poisonous, non eco-friendly bug spray: you won't find mosquitos in your basement!

4. Your favorite foursome is scattered across the country. No worries! With Virtual Golf you can play against each other in real time, and make sure no one cheats! You can even get lessons from the pros in our Virtual Golf Clinics and analyze your swing, measure the spin of your ball, and MORE! Take THAT Tiger Woods!

3. Land in a hazard? Sand won't stick to your sunscreen and water won't ruin your golf shoes when you're playing Virtual Golf! Your street cred will be intact (and so will your outfit!)

2. No need to worry about a caddy overhearing your ideas for a new business and beating you to the punch! Your own clubs are always within reach and you'll never lose another ball in the rough!

1. In your own 19th Hole, whether you win or lose the bar is always open! Woo Hoo!

That's it for today folks! This weekend I'm going to get you caught up on what's happening at the Green House, give you a progress update, and tell you once and for all WHY I should care if the carpet for the Virtual Golf Room is "photoviolet". Ugh! Until then, check out the links on the side of the page and keep spreading the word about The CharityWorks Green House! I'll be at the Green Meet Up on the Rooftop of BLT Steak tomorrow night hanging with the coolest peeps in the business, so if you're in the neighborhood Tweet me @LynniMegginson and I'll get ya on the list!
