Haute High Point...the REAL Scoop!

Hi Green Sceners!

Wow! I just got back a day or two ago from High Point Market, the furniture capital of the world, and what a great time I had! It seems that everybody, their mother, their brother and their uncle twice removed is jumping on the green wagon! It's exciting to see so many vendors and manufacturers being environmentally responsible AND fashion forward at the same time.

I had such a blast checking out the new products that are coming on to the market...you have to picture the entire 14 MILLION square feet of showroom space that this tiny town in North Carolina opens up to buyers, designers, press and manufacturers twice a year. It's heaven for someone like me who loves being on the cutting edge of design! I also made sure to let everyone know about the Green House, and passed out "Follow My Blog" cards to all of my market friends, so hopefully we'll continue to get the word out about the CW Green House.

And speaking of Green House, whew! Everyone is sooooooo excited about our participation in the house, and we've even had a couple of calls about installing a High Definition Golf system in a private residence before the showhouse even opens, which tells you how amazing the system is. As I'm constantly trying to improve my learning curve, I decided to sit down and have a chat with my new best friend Bob Beecroft, the VP of High Definition Golf:

Lynni: Bob, in our room we are creating the Ultimate Golf Room Adventure. How does your product meet our needs?

Bob: High Definition Golf is billed as 'the world's most amazing golf simulator' thanks to setting new standards in accuracy and realism for indoor golf. Designed and manufactured by Interactive Sports Technologies, Inc., the system utilizes advanced stereoscopic computer vision technology to provide the industry's most comprehensive and precise shot analysis.

Lynni: Now, Bob, we all know I'm not a golfer, so what does shot analysis do to benefit people who will be experiencing your system in the Green House?

Bob: High Definition Golf has the unique ability to measure all critical ball and club parameters including ball speed, club speed, launch angle, club face angle, ball spin and spin axis at high accuracy. As a result the system is the preferred simulator of Tour Pros and Top Golf Instructors alike. You can improve on your game more efficiently and effectively in the privacy of your home.

Lynni: Oh my gosh! I absolutely love the brochures that you sent me. Is the system really as beautiful as the photos you show in your printed material?

Bob: The simulator is even better! High Definition Golf is the only golf simulator that looks and plays like the real thing, using spectacular photo-realistic capabilities to capture the true beauty of some of the world's most renowned golf courses.

Lynni: I see a lot of courses I recognize, like Pebble Beach, Pinehurst and Doral. So my clients will be able to play through all 18 holes on these, and other courses, right?

Bob: Exactly! Revolutionary image processing software combines high resolution digital imagery and satellite data into 3D models of golf courses that not only look real, they are completely accurate everywhere on the course! Every tree, bunker and hazard is faithfully reproduced exactly as you would see it playing the actual course!

Lynni: I know the system you're putting in our Virtual Golf Room in the Green House will have lots of bells and whistles, but what can my clients expect to pay for a system should they want L&M Designs to install one for them. Starting prices, for instance?

Bob: Our systems start at around 49,900.00 plus installation, and vary in price depending on additional features the clients wish to incorporate into their systems. We have minimum height and depth of room requirements that you can discuss with your clients, but there's no doubt that this system is the ultimate in Virtual Golf!

So folks, now we have literature on High Definition Golf in hand, and can't wait to share with you these amazing brochures. Feel free to stop by L&M Designs to check it out, or contact our office and we'll be happy to pop one in the mail for you.

Remember, we need tons of followers to spread the word about this amazing project, so don't forget to click on "follow" to the right, and please spread the word to any fellow golf lovers and green enthusiasts who will want to track our progress on this page!

Next week? I'm going to learn how to upload photos (woo hoo!) and show you some of the construction pics of the Green House so you can see a before, during and after as time goes by. In the meantime, kudos to Washington Spaces Magazine, who just awarded L&M Designs with their "Best of Interior Design Award" for the second year in a row! YES!!!!!! I am thrilled beyond belief, and can't wait to show you the design inspirations we have for our Virtual Golf Room next fall. Questions? Feel free to leave a comment below, or email me at Lynni@Lynni.net

Let's talk about High Definition Golf!

Notes to self:

Spread the word about our Virtual Golf Room in the CharityWorks Green House...well folks, here we go!

You might be wondering...how in the h-e-double hockey sticks does a girl whose idea of "spikes" means really wicked stilettos get involved with a Virtual Golf Room? Well, when I first heard about the CharityWorks Green House I just knew I wanted to participate in this fabulous project, and wanted to come up with a room that would not only promote the Green Ideals that Mark Turner of GreenSpur and Mark Lowham of West Group have envisioned, but also a room that proudly tells the world: you don't have to hug a tree to love the earth! Barry Dixon, our esteemed head of the CWGH Design Committee said it very eloquently...

"There is more to a green house than unbleached linen and drab, neutral color schemes. We want to show the public that there is such a thing as Luxurious Sustainable Living utilizing the best of eco-friendly materials, products and services to enable people to look at living green in a whole new way".

Or pretty much something to that effect. I can totally dig it. You can see why I was so enamored of this project (I mean, who doesn't LOVE Barry Dixon?) but it made me think of living green in a whole new way. Last year, as an anniversary gift to her husband, one of our favorite clients enlisted L&M Designs to create a "Virtual Golf Room" in the basement of her home. We jumped into the project and came out with one of our most creative installations to date: a perfect 19th hole complete with a mural of Augusta's Amen Corner and PGA Tour furnishings. That project inspired us to think about how installing a Virtual Golf Room in the Green House could actually be, ahem, green. Everyone is asking me "Lynni, how is the room going to be GREEN if it's full of electronics?" Well folks, I'll leave describing the technical aspects of that to one of my partners in this endeavor Rick Baron from S.W.A.T. in a later post, but basically this room can be summed up in one green little word:
STAYCATION!
Lynni's definition: a vacation where you stay at home!

Instead of firing up your private jet and heading to Scotland to play St. Andrews, do it all in the comfort of your own home without burning up all of those pesky fossil fuels that wreak HAVOC with our environment! (And no, for the record I do NOT have a private jet, but love to ride in them if you've got one handy!). Our Virtual Golf Room will enable the user to pick any number of the best golf courses in the world and play them from your own personal tee box. And all in (drumroll please....) HIGH DEFINITION! Which leads me to my big announcement of the day:

We are pleased to announce that we are
partnering with High Definition Golf out of
Canada for the CharityWorks Virtual Golf Room! Woo Hoo!

We explored every option when it comes to golf simulators, from all corners of the world, and determined that we wanted to showcase the very best product on the market. Bob Beecroft, VP of High Definition Golf is making this all happen, enabling all of you who come out and play at the CW Green House to experience a 12' wide and 9' high simulated course, so real that you feel like you can walk right onto the links. Picture your flat screen HDTV in your family room, and now imagine it on steroids. Yep folks, we're bringing you the very best product for the very best Decorator Showhouse in the country! Our installed system including installation is valued at (gulp!) around $150,000.00, and I can promise you that you've NEVER seen a system like this one that's being custom made just for L&M Designs. How awesome is that?

Still curious about our "staycation"? Well, just click on the link below to check out a video that will give you a glimpse of what High Definition Golf has in store for all of us once the Green House is open to the public. And this is just my first amazing announcement...keep following my blog as I keep the surprises coming in the coming months on "Lynni's Behind the Green Scenes" road to the Green House!
